Dear friends! Welcome to the Faculty of Economics of Saint Petersburg University! The status of the Faculty of Economics as a part of Saint Petersburg University, the oldest in Russia, and as the first faculty of economics ever established at the universities in this country makes us feel especially responsible. In more than sixty years of its history the Faculty of Economics has become a leading educate centre which economists working in various spheres both in Russia and abroad. The present-day Faculty of Economics is a modern institution of higher learning, which is justly proud of its library and computer classrooms, which annually publishes textbooks and monographs, which holds five dissertation boards, organises international conferences, and which publishes its own journal, well-known and respected outside the University. The present-day Faculty of Economics is nearly four thousand intelligent, hard-working and cheerful undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students, who regularly win first prizes in scientific and sports competitions of different levels. Finally, the present-day Faculty of Economics is a unique team of professors and lecturers, who contribute their youthful energy and their wide experience to their work, who respect the old traditions which made the University the kind of institution it is now and who introduce the most innovative teaching methods and techniques.
